The NGA Economic Development and Commerce Committee hosted a web seminar on broadband reclassification and net neutrality for governors' legal counsels, Washington, D.C. directors and other state staff featuring a point-counterpoint discussion by a distinguished panel representing consumer advocates, Internet applications and cable and telephone industries. The discussion focused on the ongoing debate in Congress and at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding the FCC's authority to regulate broadband transmission and its ability to enforce network neutrality principles to prevent blocking or slowing of Internet applications.
