The NGA Center hosted policy academy meeting on strengthening postsecondary accountability systems in Atlanta, GA on November 17-18. The workshop, open to the six states participating in the policy academy, focused on making efficiency and effectiveness a more significant part of state-level accountability systems.
In 2014, states will be permitted to offer a BHP to certain individuals instead of offering subsidies for participation in the insurance exchange. The discussion focused on the financial, policy and operational assessments states will need to make in determining whether to pursue the BHP

With support from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the NGA Center, is working with five states – Alabama, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia – to develop a standardized justice information sharing system that will allow state agencies to share information.

The NGA Center hosted an Experts Roundtable on Economic Development in the Clean Energy Sector to inform a series of regional policy workshops for governors’ energy and economic advisors on best practices and lessons learned regarding pursuing economic development through clean energy markets.
The NGA Center co-hosted a meeting for states interested in learning more about evaluating school principals. This was a join meeting with the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).

The NGA Center, in partnership with the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and the Center for Excellence in Project Finance at the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), hosted a Workshop on Public-Private Partnerships for Transportation to assist state teams in exploring how P3s—contractual agreements between states and private sector entities—might be used to enhance the delivery and management of transportation infrastructure and get a better appreciation for the tradeoffs with public sector approaches.
