The Webcast explored some of the key research around engaging seniors in the labor market and highlight two states that are pursuing mature worker initiatives.

PANELISTS:

  • Gordon Mermin, research associate at the Urban Institute will discuss trends in the workforce participation of older adults and the need for seniors to keep working.
  • Deborah Russell, director of workforce issues at AARP will discuss the economic importance for businesses, communities, and states to help mature adults reconnect or remain active in the workforce.
  • Melanie Starns, policy advisor on aging, Arizona Office of the Governor and Rebecca Trammell, Special Projects Evaluator, Arkansas Workforce Investment Board will discuss their respective state efforts to encourage the hiring of older workers.
  • Kathy Krepcio, executive director at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, Rutgers University will moderate the session.
