Overview

The NGA Center provides technical assistance to Governors' Offices in the following areas:

  • Governors' Children's Cabinets;
  • Child and family services integration;
  • Child welfare system reform;
  • Child abuse and neglect prevention;
  • Marriage and family formation;
  • Children and welfare reform;

Focus of Center Activities

  • Provide technical assistance to states as they design and implement policies and initiatives to improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Track state policies and initiatives related to child and family well-being, including child welfare system reform and human services integration.

Policy Academy on Safely Reducing the Number of Children in Foster Care
Since early 2008, NGA has been working in partnership with Casey Family Programs on a Policy Academy to Safely Reduce the Number of Children in Foster Care. NGA has been working with teams from six states (Arkansas, Florida, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina) on this project.
