Recognizing that there are too many children in foster care and that their safety and well-being may be improved by other means, the NGA Center has selected six states—Arkansas, Florida, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and South Carolina—to participate in a policy academy to safely reduce the number of children in foster care.

Governors were joined by Matt Kitsler, senior vice president of sustainability for Wal-Mart, to announce the states selected to receive clean energy audits as part of the NGA/Wal-Mart 'Greening State Capitols' partnership.

The nation's governors commend Congress for acting quickly to address the student loan liquidity crisis. This swift bipartisan action will help ensure our students have continued access and affordability to postsecondary education.
