Alyssa Thibodeau is a Program Assistant for the Education Division at NGA. She is a 2017 graduate of Christopher Newport University where she received a B.A. in Political Science with a double minor in U.S. National Security and Communication Studies. As an undergraduate, Alyssa worked as a Junior Fellow for the university’s Center for American Studies. In this role, she assisted in conducting research on the history and development of Title IX for the publication “Title IX: The Transformation of Sex Discrimination in Education.” Prior to joining the National Governors Association, Alyssa also worked as a Field Organizer in Richmond, Virginia, supporting the Virginia League of Conservation Voters’ campaign to elect Ralph Northam. In her most recent position, she worked with the Public Policy department at the American Association of University Women. There, she completed federal advocacy projects to advance the organization’s public policy and legislative priorities on Capitol Hill.
