Geoffrey King

Economic Opportunity Division

Geoff King serves as a senior policy analyst for the Economic Opportunity Division of the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, where he supports governors’ staff and state policymakers in strengthening their workforce development systems. His areas of focus include apprenticeship, effective workforce system governance, occupational licensing, and work-based learning.

Prior to joining NGA, King was a director with the District of Columbia Workforce Investment Council where he led a sector-based workforce initiative and contributed to the management of the District’s workforce development board and implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. He has also held several other analyst and management roles in government and the private sector, including positions at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, Jobs for the Future, and Duke University.

King holds a master’s degree in public policy from Duke University and a bachelor of science in applied economics and business management from Cornell University.

Geoff originally hails from upstate New York.
