Jake Varn is a policy analyst with the Center for Best Practices. At NGA, Jake assists Governors’ staff and state policymakers on issues related to infrastructure and transportation. His areas of focus include funding and innovative infrastructure financing models, electric vehicles, climate mitigation and resilience, and the deployment of innovative technologies.
Prior to joining NGA, Jake was a policy analyst at the Bipartisan Policy Center. There, he focused on public-private partnerships, asset management, climate and disaster resiliency, the intersection of health and housing, and higher education issues. Previously he worked at the Coalition for Sensible Public Records Access and the Chesapeake Legal Counsel.
Jake holds bachelor’s degrees in history and in international relations from the University of Iowa.
