Jon Alfuth serves as a policy analyst for NGA Education with NGA’s Center for Best Practices. Jon was a legislative fellow in the office of the Senate minority Whip Richard J. Durbin of Illinois. In this role, Jon worked to further the Senator’s college access and accountability priorities by crafting and introducing legislation, helping to exercise Congress’ spending authority, and implementing oversight of executive branch functions. Jon also worked in the Office of the Under Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education. Jon began his career as a high school mathematics teacher in both traditional and public charter schools in Memphis, Tennessee. Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
