Drug Policy

Prescription and illicit drug abuse and overdose remains a critical public health issue. Since 2012, the NGA Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) has helped states address prescription and illicit drug abuse by hosting policy academies, learning labs and roundtable discussions—regular convenings for a network of state officials dedicated to combatting the opioid epidemic. The NGA Center continues to work with state policymakers to support implementation of comprehensive action plans for addressing prescription and illicit drug abuse.
