Human Capital Spring Learning Lab

With direct authority over many of the policies and programs that impact principal and teacher quality, governors are uniquely positioned to address gaps in these systems. The learning lab will focus on a central challenge to improving educator quality: how to move away from piecemeal programs and policies for preparing, supporting and retaining teachers and principals. This convening will build the capacity of governors’ education advisors and state agency officials to establish an intentional agenda to improve principal and teacher quality, highlight effective ways to devote human and fiscal resources, and support an implementation community around the Every Student Succeeds Act.

Cross State Convening: Leveraging Workforce Investment Strategies to Improve the Early Care and Education Workforce

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices hosted the Cross-State Convening for the Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) Workforce Project to provide an opportunity for state teams to hear from experts in the field on issues related to the early childhood workforce, allow state teams time to explore specific topics related to the early childhood workforce and to work with one another on common early childhood workforce issues in a peer learning environment.
