The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) hosted a kick-off meeting for a learning lab on telehealth strategies for expanding access to opioid addiction treatment. Teams from three states traveled to the ECHO (Extension for Community Health Outcomes) Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico to learn about how to implement a teleconsultation program to improve access to care in rural and underserved areas. Project ECHO) connects primary care providers with specialists for virtual—de-identified case review and discussion—increasing expertise among primary care providers and allowing their patients to access high-quality care closer to home.
