Janet Holcomb became the first lady of Indiana when her husband, Governor Eric Holcomb, was sworn in on Jan. 11, 2017.

Mrs. Holcomb grew up on a horse farm near Muncie, Indiana, where she rode competitively in Western, English, and contesting events and regional shows. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine arts at Ball State University.

Mrs. Holcomb most recently served as vice president of her family’s manufacturing business, R&R Engineering, which distributes its products across the U.S. and Canada. Prior to joining the business, Mrs. Holcomb spent a decade leading fundraising efforts for several federal and statewide campaigns.  She has utilized her fundraising experience to benefit many nonprofit organizations, including veterans, social service providers, arts organizations, animal welfare advocates, and scouting groups.

The first lady and Governor Holcomb live in Indiana with their dog, Henry.
