Stephen Parker serves as the Legislative Director of the Education and Workforce Committee, where he is responsible for directing the development and implementation of governors’ strategic priorities and.managing policy and advocacy for issues including: child nutrition, workforce development, career and technical, early childhood, K-12 and postsecondary education
Before joining NGA, Parker served as the special assistant to the president for advocacy at the Virginia School Boards Association, as the federal relations scholar for the National Governors Association and as the government relations intern at McGuireWoods Consulting. He also served as senior policy advisor to the Adjutant General of the Virginia National Guard, as senior special assistant to the Office of Governor Timothy M. Kaine and project manager for the Governor’s Office for Substance Abuse Prevention.
Parker holds an M.S. in public policy with a concentration in education and workforce policy from the College of William and Mary. He was also a part of the Political Leaders Program at the Sorensen Institute at the University of Virginia and holds a B.A. in history from Longwood University.
