The National Governors Association (NGA) provides assistance targeting the complete life-cycle of an administration—from election day through the final year in office. NGA Consulting focuses on the leadership and management of state government and on governors’ office operations, as well as a one-of-a-kind spouses’ program.

NGA CHAIR GOV. STEVE BULLOCK OF MONTANA discusses how NGA serves governors and the valuable nonpartisan exchange of ideas the association enables.

Chiefs Meetings: The office provides private work sessions during NGA’s Winter and Summer Meetings for chiefs of staff to meet with their counterparts and share ideas and innovations on timely issues. NGA Consulting frequently organizes a special convening for chiefs with the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Peer Rosters for Governors’ Chiefs and Senior Staff: Governors’ staff contact names and information provide a convenient tool to address issues of common concern.

NGA Governors’ Spouses’ Program: The program provides spouses with opportunities to share experiences, best practices and advice with colleagues about their unique roles and responsibilities during NGA’s Winter and Summer Meetings and at an annual Spouses’ Seminar. Our team also supports a six-member, bipartisan Spouses’ Leadership Committee that guides the spouses’ program and activities. NGA Consulting also conducts an annual seminar for spouses’ assistants and executive residence managers.

Leadership and Management Publications: Offers a wide variety of publications that provide detailed analyses of governors’ office operation models and state government leadership practices.

Research Assistance: The office offers short-term research to provide a comparative analysis of common state management and operational practices. Contact us if we can be helpful.

NGA is a sponsor of the U.S. Communities™ Government Purchasing Alliance.
