Mary Kathryn (M.K.) Pritzker was born in South Dakota. She attended the University of Nebraska and interned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., where she met her husband, Governor J.B. Pritzker. M.K. hails from a political family, as her mother was a South Dakota state senator and her father was chief of staff to former governor Richard Kneip.
M.K. is president and director of the J.B. and M.K Pritzker Family Foundation, which focuses on early childhood, community, and women’s health issues. She is a trustee and director of the Northwestern Memorial Foundation and a founder of the Evergreen Invitational, which addresses women’s health issues. The Pritzkers were married in 1993 and have a daughter, Teddi, and son, Donny.
