National Governors Association

We’re the bipartisan organization of the nation’s governors.
We’ve been working together across party lines since 1908.

NGA is boldly bipartisan. Through NGA, governors share best practices, speak with a collective voice on national policy and develop innovative solutions that improve state government and support the principles of federalism.

Who We Are

Founded in 1908, NGA is the collective voice of the nation’s governors and one of the nation’s most respected public policy organizations. Its members are the governors of the 55 states, territories and commonwealths. NGA provides governors and their senior staff members with services to represent states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key federal policy issues.

What We Do

Through NGA, governors identify priority issues and deal collectively with matters of public policy and governance at the state and national levels. The NGA Center for Best Practices helps in developing and implementing innovative solutions to public policy challenges. NGA also provides management and technical assistance to both new and incumbent governors.

NGA Leadership

We believe in bringing creative skills, thoughts and ideas to the table. Connect with our leadership team, learn more about the Executive Committee, and meet the people on our staff who are keeping NGA innovative. We’d love to hear from you.

NGA Partners

NGA facilitates discussion and debate around the most pressing policy topics facing the states. When our members gather to conduct the business of government, there’s no campaign fundraising and no political posturing.
