LeAnne Wilson

Chief Operating Officer

LeAnne Wilson is the chief operating officer of the National Governors Association, responsible for managing the staff, finances and day-to-day operations of the association, while promoting organizational best practices to make NGA a more effective resource and advocate for the nation’s governors.

An experienced national trade association senior executive with proven results in Fortune 500 CEO membership recruitment, growth and retention, Wilson also directed the Washington, D.C., office of former Michigan Governor John Engler.

Before joining NGA, Wilson served as vice president of membership and strategic partnerships for The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC). In that role, she developed, expanded and managed partnerships to build resources and a voice for the nation’s largest employers in providing health care and retirement benefits to employees, retirees and their families.

Wilson has successfully led strategic development and implementation of membership programs that significantly increased dues revenue at both the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the Business Roundtable (BRT). At BRT, she served as senior vice president, responsible for developing member retention, recruitment and services. While there, Wilson also oversaw the association’s CEO quarterly meetings. She served as chief operating officer, then senior vice president of membership at NAM.

Before her work with that association, LeAnne served as a senior consultant with Bingham Consulting Group LLC. She also worked for many years with then-Gov. Engler in a number of capacities, including 12 years as director of the State of Michigan office in Washington, D.C.

A native of Michigan, Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan.
