NGA Chair Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and Vice Chair Maryland Governor Wes Moore have issued the following statement:
“Governors applaud congressional leaders and the White House for working together to avert a prolonged shutdown.
“There are important policy principles at issue in the funding debate. But it’s everyday Americans who pay the price from endless Washington funding delays and shutdowns. States and territories need budgeting certainty, and so do federal workers across the nation whose paychecks are at risk again.
“Governors applaud Senate action, and we urge the House to act quickly to avoid a prolonged shutdown.”
