Eric Greitens was sworn in as the governor of Missouri on January 9, 2017.

Greitens is a former U.S. Navy SEAL who received the Combat Action Ribbon, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq. After 10 years with the Navy, Lt. Commander Greitens was selected by the Association of the United States Navy as the Navy Reserve Officer of the Year. He continued his military service in the reserves at Special Operations Command.

Greitens graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in ethics, philosophy and public policy. After graduating, he was selected as a Rhodes Scholar and attended Oxford University, where he received a doctorate degree in developmental studies. Greitens was also a champion boxer: a two-time Oxford Blue and a gold medalist at the BUSA National Boxing Championships. Greitens and his wife, Sheena, have two sons, Joshua and Jacob.
