The Executive Director and CEO of the National Governors Association (NGA), Scott Pattison, released the following statement regarding H.R. 302, the Federal Aviation Agency Reauthorization Act of 2018.
The National Governors Association commends Congress and the president for both passing and signing H.R. 302, the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2018. Governors are pleased that a five-year reauthorization provides much-needed stability for aviation programs, prioritizes public safety and takes steps to integrate drones into the nation’s airspace.
Governors also appreciate the inclusion of the Disaster Recovery Reform Act as part of the bill signed today. Allowing for more funding for pre-disaster mitigation helps states bolster their preparedness efforts and increases resilience and the effectiveness of response and recovery. We also appreciate supplemental funding that will provide financial assistance to states and citizens impacted by Hurricane Florence.
