National Governors Association Leadership Condemns Plot Against Michigan Governor, Praises State and Federal Response

New York Governor and National Governors Association Chairman Andrew Cuomo and Arkansas Governor and NGA Vice Chairman Asa Hutchinson issued the following statement in response to the Department of Justice uncovering an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and engage in other acts of domestic terrorism:

“This attempted act of domestic terrorism against a sitting Governor has no place in a lawful and civil society and we condemn it in the strongest terms.

“We’re thankful that Gov. Whitmer and her family are safe, and we’re grateful for the hard work of the federal and state law enforcement officers that prevented this terrible plot from coming to fruition.”
