Bill McBride

Biography

Bill McBride has enjoyed a multi-decade career at the highest level of government and politics at both the state and federal levels.

McBride began his career as chief of staff to Congressman Carl Pursell in Washington, D.C., before returning to Michigan to serve as deputy chief of staff to Governor John Engler. He then moved back to the nation’s capital as chief of staff to Congressman Vern Ehlers.

Most recently, McBride served as the director of the state of Michigan’s Washington, D.C., office during the entire governorship of Rick Snyder. In that role, he developed and executed Michigan’s state-federal relations program and served as the liaison between elected and appointed officials at various levels of government in the United States and the international community. During that period, he also served as Michigan’s primary representative for national groups, including the National Governors Association (NGA).

McBride’s extensive experience in federal and state government, coupled with his policy coordination background, coalition building and management skills have prepared him to lead NGA.
