NGA Statement on the 25th Anniversary of 9/11

NGA CEO Brandon Tatum released the following statement today in honor and remembrance of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on our nation.

“As we remember the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, we also honor the extraordinary spirit of service and unity that emerged in the aftermath. Neighbors helped neighbors; first responders and service members answered the call to duty; and Americans everywhere looked for ways, big and small, to give back to their communities.

“The 25th anniversary of 9/11 reminds us that, even in our most difficult moments, the bonds we share as Americans can be stronger than the forces that seek to divide us. Governors play a unique role in carrying these principles forward, as they work every day to strengthen our communities, in every state and in every territory.

“On this solemn anniversary, we remember those we lost, give thanks to those who serve and recommit ourselves to the unity that so many Americans demonstrated 25 years ago.

“We will never forget.”
