2025 GHSAC Winter Meting

The Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council (GHSAC) met April 15-17, 2025, in Washington, D.C. The GHSAC regularly brings together Governors’ homeland security advisors from states, commonwealths, territories and the District of Columbia. The mission of the GHSAC is to inform and shape national homeland security policy, keep Governors abreast of the current threat environment and the impacts of federal homeland security legislation, regulations, and policies, as well as share and promote best practices related to homeland security activities.

The meeting included representatives from 41 states, territories and the District of Columbia. Topics discussed during this year’s meeting included disaster response, combatting transnational drug trafficking, critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity, security needs for the 2026 World Cup and other special events, as well as school safety.

The GHSAC also spoke with national leaders, including Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to continue to advance Governors’ homeland security priorities, share best practices and improve the nation’s homeland security enterprise.
