North/Central Regional Transportation Electrification Workshop

April 29 – 30, 2019

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) hosted the North/Central Regional Transportation Electrification Workshop in Kansas City, MO. This workshop brought together western state officials, industry, nonprofits, NGOs and others to discuss Transportation electrification which can help achieve a variety of environmental, economic, energy reliability, resiliency and security goals.Transportation electrification can help achieve a variety of economic, environmental, reliability, resiliency and energy security goals. The transportation sector is moving towards greater electrification across multiple applications including light-duty and transit vehicles, bicycles and scooters, and maritime and aviation, but barriers to wide-spread adoption remain. Consequently, states are considering how to craft policies and incentives, engage stakeholders and improve the planning and financing of charging infrastructure. This is the last of four regional workshops to help states develop strategies for enhancing electric vehicle (EV) incentives and improving the planning and deployment of charging infrastructure and will include time for states to reflect on lessons learned and exchange ideas.
