Today, National Governors Association Chair Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey and Vice Chair Governor Spencer Cox of Utah released the following statement after the Senate and House passed the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.
“Governors applaud Congress in supporting American innovation and global competitiveness by passing bipartisan legislation accelerating research and development in semiconductor production.
”The $52 billion in federal investments for domestic semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing are absolutely critical to our national security and will allow us to address gaps and vulnerabilities in the U.S. supply chain.
“Governors call on the President to swiftly sign this package into law ensuring that states and territories can meet our 21st century business and workforce needs.”
