Opening Plenary: Ahead of the Curve: Innovation Governors

Governor Brian Sandoval, 2017-2018 NGA Chair, will formally open the Summer Meeting, welcome all participants to New Mexico and preside over a conversation about his initiative, Ahead of the Curve. Governor Susana Martinez of New Mexico will also offer opening remarks

Plenary Session IV:  Economic Opportunity in the Great Outdoors

This session will provide governors an opportunity to discuss how their states are integrating recreation and parks into their state-wide economic development strategies, including success stories from existing state Offices of Outdoor Recreation.

Plenary Session II: Racial Equity in the Workplace

This fireside chat, featuring W.K. Kellogg Foundation CEO La June Montgomery Tabron, explores the significant economic and social gains to be made by closing the racial equity gap in the U.S.  The discussion will focus on what governors can do to help raise awareness and make measurable change.

Plenary Session V:  An Evolving Crisis: Combatting the Next Wave of Addiction

This session will offer insights into how officials at all levels of governments can combat the flow of opioids and other illicit drugs into the country and ensure appropriate treatment and recovery services in a rapidly changing environment.

Plenary Session III: Women in Leadership: A View from the Top

During this panel, three accomplished CEOs will discuss leadership, innovation and the workforce in a changing economy. The panelists will discuss the challenges that women face in the workforce as well new and innovative ways for women to lead in both the public and private sectors.

Plenary Session VI 

NGA Global welcomes Graeme Conway, Head of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) to speak about the interconnectedness of infrastructure projects regionally and internationally.

Plenary Session VII

This session focuses on using the arts as a catalyst for economic growth. Governors and panelists will discuss the importance of culture and art in state economies and consider strategies to enhance both culture and commerce.

Plenary Session VIII

This session will introduce governors to new innovations in robotics and automation and enable them to manage technological innovation with new policy considerations.

Closing Plenary Session: Good Jobs for All Americans

In this session, Montana Governor Steve Bullock will formally unveil his NGA Chair’s initiative for 2018-2019, Good Jobs for All Americans, and Governor Brian Sandoval will officially pass the gavel to Governor Bullock after the governors vote for the 2018-2019 NGA Chair.
