Policy Academy to Advance Data Dashboards Measuring Student & System Success

This project will support 6–8 states and/or territories in advancing their Governor’s vision for education through a dashboard of metrics tracking pertinent measures of student and system success across academics, workforce and postsecondary readiness, civic preparation, and student experience and wellbeing.

The NGA Center K-12 Education team is excited to release a request for applications (RFA) for a Policy Academy to Advance Data Dashboards Measuring Student & System Success. Built off the success of the 2024-2025 Chair’s initiative: Let’s Get Ready! Educating All Americans for Success, this 18-month policy academy will support 6–8 states and/or territories in advancing their Governor’s vision for education through a dashboard of metrics tracking pertinent measures of student and system success across academics, workforce and postsecondary readiness, civic preparation, and student experience and wellbeing.

The project period will run from January 2026 through June 2027. Selected states will work with NGA and a dedicated technical assistance provider funded by NGA  to identify and actualize a set of metrics for success and establish a data dashboard with measures specific to their state’s student, economic, and workforce needs.

NGA’s K-12 Education team has released a request for information (RFI) for technical assistance providers to support the Policy Academy to Advance Data Dashboards Measuring Student & System Success.

Selected providers will partner with 1–3 of the seven participating states and territories for 12 months as they develop public dashboards tracking student and system success across academics, postsecondary and workforce readiness, civic preparation, and student wellbeing. NGA is seeking organizations with expertise in the areas of data auditing, data governance, measure selection, project management, dashboard construction, and/or communications to provide individualized technical assistance to project teams. Applications are due by June 17.

Please view the RFI here. For further information or questions about this policy academy please contact Seth Gerson (SGerson@nga.org) or Devon Nir (DNir@nga.org).

This project is made possible through support from the Hewlett Foundation, the Raikes Foundation, Strada Education Foundation, and Valhalla Foundation.
