SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – JULY 24-26, 2019

2019 NGA SUMMER MEETING

NGA Chair's Welcome

It is my privilege as chair of the National Governors Association to welcome you to the Summer Meeting in Salt Lake City.

My fellow governors and I look forward to conversations on the vital issues facing the country, and how we the states are leading the way with solutions on workforce development, cybersecurity, emergency preparedness, education, health care, energy development and more.

I will be concluding my NGA Chair’s Initiative, Good Jobs for All Americans, with an in-depth discussion of how states can equip their workers for success in a fast-changing economy and how the benefits of a growing economy can accrue to all regions and people, including in our rural areas. Future state leaders will benefit from the work we did on the initiative, which provides a road map that can be adapted to different circumstances across the country.

I also look forward to passing the mantle of leadership to my friend and colleague, Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland, the incoming NGA chair. Working alongside Gov. Hogan as leaders of NGA has been one of the highlights of my career.

Throughout the Summer Meeting, governors will meet with one another, federal leaders and some of the brightest minds from the private and nonprofit sectors. Those meetings include open plenary sessions and committee meetings, as well as closed-door meetings for governors only.

We look forward to spending time with you in Salt Lake City.

Montana Governor Steve Bullock
2018-2019 NGA Chair
