Chris Christie was sworn in as governor of New Jersey on January 19, 2010, and was sworn in for his second term on January 21, 2014.
Christie has a deep affection for and strong commitment to the state in which he has spent his entire life. He was elected a freeholder in Morris County and served as director of the Board in 1997. In 2002, Christie was named U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey and fought against political corruption, corporate crime, human trafficking, gangs, terrorism and environmental polluters.
Christie’s administration focused on fiscal responsibility, job creation, pension and health benefits reform and education reform.
Christie graduated from the University of Delaware and then attended Seton Hall University School of Law. He and his wife, Mary Pat, have four children, Andrew, Sarah, Patrick and Bridget.
