West Regional Transportation Electrification Workshop |

Thursday, April 4, 2019 | Friday, April 5, 2019

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) hosted the West Regional Transportation Electrification Workshop in Seattle, WA. This workshop brought together western state officials, industry, nonprofits, NGOs and others to discuss Transportation electrification which can help achieve a variety of environmental, economic, energy reliability, resiliency and security goals. The transportation sector is moving towards greater electrification across multiple applications including light-duty and transit vehicles, bicycles and scooters, and maritime and aviation. However, questions about what this transition should look like, and barriers to wide-spread adoption, remain. Consequently, states are considering how to craft policies and incentives, engage stakeholders and improve the planning and financing of charging infrastructure. This is the third of four regional workshops to help states develop strategies and improve the planning and deployment of charging infrastructure, as well as electric vehicle (EV) incentive programs. The workshop will include time for participants to reflect on lessons learned and exchange ideas.
