NGA 2024 Winter Meeting

The National Governors Association hosted the nation’s Governors, federal officials and leaders from business, academia and philanthropy in Washington DC, February 22-24, for solutions-driven conversations and bipartisan collaboration on the top policy issues facing states and territories.

On Friday, Feb. 23, NGA Chair Utah Governor Spencer Cox hosted a plenary session with U.S. Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Amy Coney Barrett, who shared their perspectives on “How to Disagree Agreeably” – part of Governor Cox’s Disagree Better Initiative.


Saturday sessions

NGA Vice Chair Colorado Governor Jared Polis moderated a Governors’ discussion with Arnold Ventures EVP Charlie Anderson on the current state of housing across the U.S., focusing on efforts to improve availability and affordability.


Dr. Frank Luntz met with Governors for a discussion on public opinion trends and offers his perspectives on Governor Cox’s Disagree Better initiative.


North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum discussed advances in Artificial Intelligence and opportunities for states with technology entrepreneur Marc Andreessen.


Public Health and Disaster Response Task Force Co-Chairs Hawai‘i Governor Josh Green, and Vermont Governor Phil Scott led a discussion on “Governors’ Reimagining Models of Disaster Preparedness and Recovery,” with: Jennifer G. Enderlin, Director, Corporate Responsibility, AT&T; Colt Hagmaier, Assistant Administrator, FEMA Office of Response and Recovery; and Dr. Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon, Assistant Secretary, SAMHSA.


Education, Workforce, and Community Investment Task Force Co-Chairs Idaho Governor Brad Little and Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan Jr. led a conversation on Cultivating the Future: How the Farm Bill Authorizes Essential Tools for Rural America in the 21st Century; with: Jennifer Lester Moffitt, Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Ted McKinney, CEO, NASDA.


Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon led an Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force meeting to discuss “Governors’ Investments to Build a Strong Workforce in Emerging Sectors,” with: U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo; Dan Brouillette, President & CEO, Edison Electric Institute; and Shari Liss, Executive Director, SEMI Foundation.
