The bipartisan National Governors Association (NGA) released the following statement today on the passage of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) of 2017:

“Governors share Congress’ goal of fostering a 21st century health care system that improves health outcomes and reduces the financial burden on families, businesses and government.

The AHCA will obviously have a large-scale effect on states and their residents and as such, continued collaboration with the nation’s governors is absolutely necessary as this reform effort moves to the Senate. In the spirit of bipartisanship, NGA requests Congressional leaders work closely with the nation’s governors to develop a more efficient health care system that continues to put patients first and address the underlying factors driving unsustainable health care spending.

Governors stand ready to collaborate with Congress in a constructive and thoughtful dialogue.”
