James Nash

James Nash is the press secretary and primary media contact for the National Governors Association, where he works with governors’ offices to promote their national priorities and the principles of federalism. His job also includes writing and editing policy papers, opinion pieces, speeches for NGA leadership, and social media posts, while serving as a communications strategist for the organization.

A Michigan native and University of Michigan graduate, Nash covered three statehouses as a reporter for newspapers and Bloomberg News: California, Ohio and New Jersey. He also reported on the 2016 presidential campaign for Bloomberg.

He also has worked in government as the communications director for the elected Los Angeles city controller.

Nash lives in Washington, D.C.
